Mom Life Update: Baby Showers/Sprinkles and Figure Skating

Hey mamas! Yesterday was definitely a day where I needed to hit pause and take a mental health break. Whew! Those Braxton Hicks contractions were kicking in, almost making me think baby was ready to make an early entrance—but all is well, and baby stayed snug inside for now. I might have overdone it a bit with chores, working on the group Baby Shower, and running errands. Standing on my feet all day was exhausting enough, not to mention the mental drain.

Today, though, is much brighter! Braxton Hicks is doing her thing without fooling me into thinking it's go-time, thank goodness. Managed to be productive with more group Baby Shower prep and even added some new recipes to the website. Take a peek and let me know if you try any! I've been decoding my recipe notebook (or what I managed to jot down amidst the chaos) and trying to translate my "eyeball-it" cooking style. My friends keep asking for recipes, and I'm like, "Oops, I measure with my eyes!" But I'm getting better at jotting it all down, promise!

Today's schedule was packed too. Ryenn had her Figure Skating lesson, squeezed in because our weekend's booked with Baby Shower plans. Thankfully, the toilet got fixed earlier than expected, so we made it to her lesson on time. It was also nice having my friend Judy there to keep me company—no solo mom moments today!

Ryenn got a bonus: an extra 30 minutes with her coach for just a few bucks more. Plus, we finally sent her new skates for a sharpening. She's bouncing back into skating after a long break (3 years) following our move to Texas. She had been skating since she was 2½ years old, so her being able to bounce back after 3 years is amazing. I am so proud of her progress and hoping she won't need to retest to get back to previous level. Keeping fingers crossed!

After skating, the last thing on my mind was cooking dinner, so fast food it was. I grabbed Burger King (minus the bun, thanks to Gestational Diabetes), and Ryenn opted for McDonald's—she's definitely not a Burger King fan!

Oh, and speaking of surprises, my sister-cousin (she's technically my cousin, but we call each other sisters because we grew up as if we were sisters) totally caught me off guard today with plans for a baby sprinkle next week. Cue the happy tears! It's incredibly sweet, and I'm already looking forward to brunch downtown at a spot I apparently didn't know existed. Can't wait for family time celebrating the new baby, Ryenn's and my baby sister Mj's birthdays.—it's shaping up to be a wonderful week.

Well, that's my update for today. It wasn't the most thrilling day, but I'm still recovering from yesterday's mental exhaustion. I hope everyone had a lovely day, and here's to an even better one tomorrow! Sending love and positivity your way!
